MEN Business Week: Time to upgrade to Magento 2?

Magento 2 is something we get asked a lot about, and were planning on writing a blog on if, why and when you should upgrade to Magento 2 – so it was really good timing when we were contacted by Manchester Evening News Business Week on the very subject.

The article is in this weeks edition (April 14th, 2016) but if you don’t get a copy you can view it by getting the GMBW app in the App Store or Play… or you can read it below.

Is Magento 2 right for me?

If you want a friendly, non-technical and no-obligation chat give us a call on 0161 399 0129 and we’d be more than happy to explain the options and if Magento 2 is the right ecommerce platform for your business.

It’s not an easy call to make on if you should go with Magento 1.9.x or Magento 2.0 – there are a lot of factors to consider and it’s not YET right for every single business.   With good planning and looking at all the factors that your business needs to consider, making the right choice is essential before any work begins.

Do I need to find a Magento specialist?

Almost certainly yes – anybody (even you, dear reader) could build a site in Magento.  The software is free and easily accessible and that means that any developer regardless of experience can advise you or build you a site – but that doesn’t mean they will be able to give you the best advice and that could lead to problems further down the line and that can be costly.

If you’re speaking to an agency, make sure they have Magento Certified professionals in the organisation – it’s a sign that they have invested time in learning and developing the right skillsets.
