When it comes to eCommerce, WooCommerce and Magento are two of the common heavyweights in the ‘open source’ eCommerce market. In fact, they are the most common platforms we get asked about. There are key factors that help you decide which is right for you – so we thought why not share them with you if you’re considering the pros and cons of WooCommerce vs Magento.
Bespoke design vs Theme & Template website design
This is a whole discussion in it’s own right – but I wanted to quickly cover what this means. With a bespoke design, the visual aspect of the site is created completely for you and build from scratch – the design and development process is longer, so the costs are higher. A template website design is based on a pre-designed template that is then customised to your company branding – so the development times are quicker, and the cost is therefore lower.
Think of it as a suit – you could go to a tailor, or you could go to Next… you could even go to Primark. Each option is applicable to the budget you have for the site. I’ll show no bias in this article, and we’ll bring it up in another blog post in a few weeks.
WooCommerce vs Magento
So here we go with the comparison – these are in our opinion, and I know that other agencies will read this and argue out some of the points such as marketplaces integration and maximum number of products… but with the benefit of experience, I’m going to stick to my guns!
