Great War Aviation
The Great War Aviation Society are a charity dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Aviation in World War One. This charity is ran by a small group of retired enthusiasts largely across the South of England.
In over 50 years, they have built a thriving community of over 1,000 members based in over 25 countries around the world… of which we are one.
When Great War came to us, they had been running for a number of years on a semi-bespoke platform that had been created by a freelancer. The site had served the charity well for that time, but with the platform being retired, the board of the charity knew they had to replace the system.
Through working with their team, we identified that WooCommerce would be a good replacement platform to allow us to build a new, modern platform.
The new website has a range of features including: online membership management; content publishing with member-only paywall; digital download management and online forum… that’s just for starters!
Because the website is ran with distributed admins who hold stock for their shop in their homes, we also implemented a partial shipment and bespoke integration into Royal Mail Click & Drop.
One of the key parts of the project was data migration. We moved years of historic customer, membership, sales and forum data into the new website so that it seamlessly integrates into the new website.
The site will go from strength to strength and we look forward to seeing the profile of the charity grow, alongside with its membership.
